Organization Committee

The Organization Committee provides the framework with which the Salinas City Center Improvement Association, or SCCIA, looks to bolster and build upon this historic district located in the heart of Salinas. The committee oversees administrative duties, board makeup and agendas, and partners with the city of Salinas to work towards the betterment of downtown Salinas.

2017 Goals:

  • Complete Property Database with contact info. 
  • Upload SCCIA Business to the website.
  • Property Owner postcard mailing.
  • New Board Member recruitment.
  • Support development of Merchant Committee.
  • Distribute Meeting Notes (Minutes) within 1 week of meeting for use by members.
  • Maintain property tax delinquent list.
  • Collect Assessment from Federally owned property (Post Office).
  • Track property Sales and Acquisitions.
  • Track incoming Tenants (new businesses).
  • Continue to correct assessment errors.
  • Process addition of “opt-in” properties through the City Engineer in a timely manner.

2016 Committee Accomplishments:

  • Named interim Board to accomplish formation tasks.
  • Negotiated and completed the Management & Distribution Agreement (MDA) between the SCCIA and the City of Salinas.
  • Created the ByLaws of the SCCIA.
  • 501©3 IRS filing completed.
  • Hired District Manager under contract.
  • D&O Insurance in place.
  • General Liability and Workers’ Comp Insurance in place.
  • Logo Designed.
  • Property Database & Owner Contact info in progress.
  • City of Salinas Elected and City Manager meetings.
  • Office Lease.
  • Established Property Tax delinquent list.
  • Assessment errors corrections.
