Spend the Holidays in Downtown Salinas

The Holiday Season is Going to be LIT in Downtown Salinas

Festive Holiday décor, the Tree For Peace, live holiday performances and special appearances made by Santa Claus and the Salinas Fire Department. You don’t want to miss it!

This holiday season, the Salinas City Center Improvement Association (SCCIA) is Lighting Up Downtown Salinas to spread festive cheer and encourage supporting local businesses. In addition to enhancing the several trees that line Main Street with ambient lighting, festive banners and holiday bows will be adorning the downtown area creating a joyful and inviting environment all season long.

In addition to enjoying the festive décor while visiting downtown there will be several events open to the public this holiday season starting with the lighting and dedication of the Tree for Peace for the City of Salinas.

Tuesday, November 23rd the Salinas City Center Improvement Association, in partnership with CSUMB Salinas City Center, is inviting the community to the annual family-friendly tree lighting event that kicks off the holiday season for Downtown Salinas. The event will run from 5PM until 6PM beginning with live musical performances by YOSAL and finishing with The Salinas Fire Department and Santa Claus lighting the tree. For more details: CLICK HERE

Saturday, November 27th, the SCCIA recommends you plan your dining and shopping plans around being in Downtown Salinas between 11:30AM and 1PM to ensure you do not miss a special appearance from Santa Claus. He will be cruising Main Street with the Salinas Fire Department waving to all who come out to see him and support Shop Small Saturday. Rumor has it that he gets off the fire truck to visit with Downtown shoppers and diners so be sure to bring your wish list to share with him. For more details: CLICK HERE

But that’s not all! On Thursday, December 16th from 3PM – 7PM the Salinas City Center, in partnership with The Salinas Valley Chamber of Commerce, is inviting the community to come Downtown and support local businesses while enjoying live performances at the Downtown Salinas Rotary Arch, fun giveaways throughout the City Center and much more! Blue Zones Project Monterey County, in partnership with Salinas City Center, have placed arrows throughout the downtown area, primarily on Main St. through Oldtown Salinas, to create an urban one-mile walking loop. The route will take you underneath the new Downtown Salinas Rotary Arch, past the Taylor Building and Steinbeck Center, along Gabilan and Monterey Street, through Mid-town Lane and past several of our locally owned shops, businesses and restaurants. The goal is to encourage our residents and downtown business community to get outdoors and move naturally but what better way to enjoy the newly lit trees lining Main Street than to go for an early evening stroll. Salinas City Center is encouraging everyone to take a walk downtown this holiday season and is hoping to see the community gather at the Downtown holiday events but most importantly SCCIA wants everyone to come downtown and support local businesses and to shop small this holiday season.
