Spend the Summer in Salinas City Center

We may be well in to July by now but summer is not winding down quite yet and there is definitely no shortage of fun activities happening downtown. With everything from the FREE MY Town Pop-up Museum at CSUMB @ Salinas City Center to the annual Salinas Valley Food & Wine Festival, there is something for everyone to partake in in Salinas City Center this summer.

Be sure to mark your calendars for the following events and activities happening in Salinas City Center:

• Kiddie Kapers Parade: Happening this weekend! Saturday, July 13^th the 89th Kiddie Kapers Parade, presented by Sakata Seed America, will once again kick off Big Week and the California Rodeo Salinas. The parade starts from Salinas High School at 7:00 PM and heads down Main St. right through Salinas City Center for the thousands of people lining the streets to watch. For more details CLICK HERE!

• Colmo del Rodeo Parade: Immediately to follow the Kiddie Kapers Parade is the California Rodeo’s 2019 Colmo del Rodeo Parade, presented by Star Market. The Colmo Parade commemorates what was once the greatest parade of the West as well as the first informal night parade and at one time was even recognized as the largest and greatest night-lighted parade west of the Mississippi. • Horse Parades: The Saturday and Sunday of Rodeo weekend, July 20^th and 21^st, from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM the traditional horse parades will travel from downtown Salinas through Salinas City Center to the Rodeo Grounds. • MY Town Pop-Up Museum: Through July 21^st everyone is invited to the pop-up children’s museum, MY Town, at CSUMB @ Salinas City Center. The temporary museum is free for children and their accompanying adults. All ages are welcome but the museum was designed with children 7 years and younger in mind. • Salinas Valley Food & Wine Kick Off Party: Kick off the weekend and the Salinas Valley Food & Wine Festival on Friday, August 9^th from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at CSUMB @ Salinas City Center. Have fun sipping and voting on your favorite home brewery as well as enjoying the tastes of local wines. • Salinas Valley Food & Wine Festival: Saturday, August 10^th, from 11:30 AM – 4:00 PM Main Street will be filled, for the 9^th year in a row, with wine tasting stops, food sampling stations, live music, artist/artisan vendors, and the opportunity to experience world-class wines, craft beers, and gourmet foods.  Come experience the bounty of the Salinas Valley in the heart of downtown. • Saturday Farmers Market: Every Saturday, rain or shine, from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM, on W. Gabilan St. between Main St. and Salinas St. is the Downtown Salinas Farmers Market. Bring the whole family for a fun weekend outing. Stock up on fresh local produce while you enjoy the delicious food, flowers, jewelry and more from talented local vendors and restaurants.
