Salinas will be transformed into a citywide art gallery when Alebrijes & Nahuales: Fantastic Animals from Mexico opens Friday, July 31, at venues across the city.
The eight towering sculptures of brightly colored creatures from Mexican folk-art tradition illuminate at night and stand at 20 feet tall. Crafted by master artisans in Oaxaca, they made their U.S. debut in San Francisco last year and have since traveled to Reno, Fresno and San Jose.
